Write the Vision

And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so that a herald may run with it.

Habakkuk 2:2 (NIV-ESV)

Where were you on January 20, 2021? Were you glued to your television set, watching President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris take office? Did you rise early to see glimpses of the church service? Did you listen to the news anchors try their best to remain neutral as they reported on the day’s events? Did your heart fill with pride as Biden and Harris recited the oaths? Did you smile when two of the most powerful women in entertainment shared their renditions of our nation’s songs? Did your eyes fill with just a few tears as the first National Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman, stirred our souls with words the same way Garth Brooks did when he sang and then led us in “Amazing Grace”? Were you there? What did you feel? What did you say as you watched things shift in our nation?

Did you notice the weather in DC – cold, crisp, clear, yet sunny? Did the sun shine brighter in your part of the world the next day – whether literally or metaphorically? How did you feel? What were your thoughts the next day?

When there is a major shift in an individual life or collective lives, it is always good to do some reflective writing. It is always good to look back and capture a moment in history. So, today at Love Speaks Daily, we want to help you with that. Take a few moments out of your week and write down your thoughts about the last four years of your life and our collective lives. Use the following to help with your writing:

  1. Answer the questions posed in the first two paragraphs.
  2. Add any details that you’d like that were not captured in the questions.
  3. Write about things using your five senses if you can.
  4. After you have captured your experiences and feelings, turn to Habakkuk 2:2.
  5. Write your vision for the future.
  6. What are you being called to do individually?
  7. What do you think we are being called to do collectively?

When you are finished writing, save yourself a copy and then save a copy for future generations.

Feel free to share your thoughts with us here at Love Speaks Daily if you like.
