An Answer to God’s Call:
God decided and I agreed that it was time to start blogging again. So much has happened since the Love Speaks Daily blog made it 2009 debut. One thing is that I started seminary this year, which has been an awesome and agonizing process. In the very beginning, Wesley promised that it would strip us bare and then build us back up to be better stewards of God’s call on our life. With each awesome experience, there has been an agonizing counter-experience aka growing pains. Since June, many of my little girl antics have been stripped away, revealing a woman I barely recognize. During this process, Psalm 37:4 has been a constant friend.
Anyone who has taken up graduate studies of any kind, especially while working full time, knows how taxing it can be on your time, your mind and your body. At moments, you want to give in or at least not go to class. These moments can be grueling, but they can be glorious when you “take delight in the Lord.”
As the definition of the action verb, “take,” implies, we are to “get into our hold or possession by voluntary action,” delight in the Lord. I like the phrase, “by volunteer action.” It means seeking God instead of waiting to be sought. Sometimes, we are waiting on God to pursue us when we really should be pursing God. Instead of waiting for God to take away our stress and fatigue or to make us feel better, we should use all we have left to chase after God. In doing so, we find restoration and rest. As we know, to do something well, we can only do one thing at a time. In other words, to pursue God, to take delight in God, we have to give up something, even if only for that moment.
Moment of Transparency:
One of the ways I take delight in the Lord is to blog about Him. However, in order to do this well, I need to give up my hour of snoozing each morning. That would mean that tomorrow’s post would come to your box at time God has designated.
