Spiritual Direction

When is the last time someone listened to you, truly listened to you?

Have you experienced the type of listening that wasn't filled with responses, advice, or fixing? What does it feel like when the words of your life truly matter to the listener? In the world of spirituality, this type of listening is called holy listening. It is the work of spiritual direction. Spiritual direction is where one person partners with another to hear from and experience God's love, grace, and mercy. The spiritual director is one who partners with you in this act of holy listening. The spiritual director does not direct you but directs your attention to God by asking the question, “How is it with your soul?” A typical session lasts for one hour and can take place via phone, Zoom, or in person. Each confidential session is composed of prayer, dialogue, and silence. Our goal is to hear God's voice and experience God's presence. In spiritual direction, God is the real Director. God is doing the work. Our job is to hear the voice of the Savior.
